Who doesn’t love a bunny rabbit? Except for backyard gardeners, (and maybe Elmer Fudd,) nobody doesn’t love a “wee wittle wabbit.” Everybody loves a bunny!
For a variety of reasons, a rabbit makes a perfect family pet. They’re inexpensive, they don’t require much maintenance, and unlike a dog, YOU DON’T HAVE TO WALK IT!
Did you know that rabbits are as playful as puppies, independent and curious as cats, and affectionate as dogs? Consider this. Bunnies aren’t just cute — they’re very intelligent and adaptable. They respond to simple word commands and they won’t destroy your best dress heels or favorite hiking boots! (Unless your best heels or favorite hiking boots are made of lettuce, in which case, all bets are off.)
You do need to make sure you choose the right rabbit for your household. There are over forty recognized breeds of these domestic cuties. Some “teacup” varieties are very tiny, while others can weigh as much as fifteen pounds or more! The best way to choose your bunny is to interact with it long enough to get a feel for its personality.
Tight for cash? Consider adopting a pet rabbit. Visit your local animal rescue shelter and you just might find a variety of pure and mixed breed rabbits looking for good homes. Rabbits are great for families because they provide soft companionship for the elderly, play well with children and other pets, and are easy to care for.
If you are looking for a cute, cuddly, relaxed, low maintenance pet, Mister or Miss Bunny may be the way to go!
And in a pinch… dinner… (just kidding!)
